Sweet Beginnings

Calls of prayer around the world can be heard.
If not by sound, in silence. And that's really what Ramadan is about for me, the answering of inner calls. Or at least the beginnings of that.
Whilst I'd been consciously planning to start a blog of sort from Ash Wednesday, my body unknowingly began water fasting and letting go of certain "loves" in the last few weeks.
I've never participated in Ramadan but don't feel prepared enough to do a full fast. So I have given up smoking cigs, eating meat and drinking margaritas instead.
My friend Jasmin Harsono reminded me the other the deeper invitation of this period.

A prayer for the start of Ramadan....
To the moon, the stars, the earth and angels
To the mystics of past, present and future
We thank you for silent work
May the divine speak to us more purely than ever
In aid of people and planet
And together.
With love x
